|Name:||Kitchen Assistant at Oasis Community Café|
|Organisation:||Oasis Project (Plymouth Foodbank)|
|Location:||28 Manor Street, Stonehouse, Plymouth, Devon, PL1 1TW|
We require volunteers between 9.30am - 1.30pm Mondays to Fridays.
(16+) The Oasis Project is a community cafe with a resource/information centre. We are looking for a team of volunteers to help out as Kitchen Assistants in the Oasis Project Community Cafe.
Volunteers will be carrying out the following tasks:
• making and serving hot drinks,
• washing dishes,
• preparing sandwiches and snacks under the supervision of our cook,
• maintaining the hygiene of the kitchen to a schedule of cleaning,
• answering the telephone and taking messages where necessary
• using the electronic cash register.
The Oasis project is a community hub which offers personal support and development opportunities to residents of Plymouth. Many of the people who use its services are disadvantaged by such factors as ill health, learning disability, domestic violence and substance abuse. Low income and inadequate housing contribute to the difficulties. An estimated 100 people use the services provided by Oasis each week. The Plymouth Foodbank is run by the Oasis Project.
Volunteers will need to have a level 2 Food Safety qualification but training is provided to those who do not already have this. We would prefer volunteers who could commit to a 4 hour shift per week but are flexible depending upon your availability. Times available to volunteer are between 9.30am - 1.30pm Mondays to Fridays.
For anyone completing four hours or more a sandwich or hot snack is provided as well as tea or coffee.
