Are you passionate about wildlife and looking for an opportunity to encourage biodiversity in your area? We're currently seeking enthusiastic volunteers to help us to find out about and protect wildlife on the National Cycle Network
We have 38 Greener Greenways routes just in England, and we’re looking for passionate individuals to lend an extra pair of hands in supporting our biodiversity work on these paths.
Our volunteers are what makes Sustrans special. We have 4,000 fantastic volunteers across the UK who are grounded in communities and are making a real difference in their local area.
From sprucing up the National Cycle Network, to empowering people to walk and cycle, improving wildlife along our greenways to inspiring young people in schools to get active – their passion and dedication is vital in helping us to achieve our vision of happier, healthier communities and a better environment for us all

You don’t need to be a wildlife or biodiversity expert to take part – all we need is your enthusiasm and dedication!
Your volunteer co-ordinator or group co-ordinator will give you training in basic practical habitat management techniques.
We will be organising more specific training for more specialist surveys and habitat management on our Greener Greenway routes depending on what is found on each route.
Sustrans in-house ecologists will also be contactable at all times to provide guidance and feedback on the work you do.
Sustrans organises a number of all-volunteer days throughout the year, which will offer valuable updates, networking opportunities with other volunteers, and training in relevant skills.
You will also receive regular communications to support you in your role, and can join the online community to find support from other wildlife volunteers.
Health and safety guidelines and simple risk assessments will be provided.
